Product Carbon Footprint: method and results by model

What a Product Carbon Footprint is

The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is the estimate of the greenhouse gas emissions associated with a product's life cycle, expressed in kg of CO2 equivalent (kg CO2eq). For the models listed on this page the PCF was calculated by ACBC Srl (ACBC Sustainability Services) on behalf of Piquadro; the original PDF reports can be downloaded from the links in the table.

Standard and method

The ACBC reports state that they rely on internationally recognised standards, on secondary data extracted from scientific life cycle assessment databases (in reports from 2024 onwards: SimaPRO, Ecoinvent 3.6-3.9) and on ACBC's primary data. Reports from 2024 onwards reproduce the covers of the GHG Protocol "Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard" and the "GHG Protocol Scope 2 Guidance"; the most recent reports (2025-26) state that the methodology adheres to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and cite EcoInvent and Agrifoodprint. The 2023 reports do not name a specific standard.

Method steps described by ACBC: system boundaries definition; data collection on the product (composition, suppliers, material origin); component weighing with Driwei and Bil2b Bombelli scales; emission factor identification based on component composition; CO2 impact calculation also accounting for production waste, with secondary data filling gaps; results documentation in a report.

Scope

Phases included: raw materials, manufacturing, transportation, packaging, end of life. Phase excluded: product use. Recurring conditions stated in the reports: the raw materials impact does not include (unless stated) material loss rates and production waste; secondary packaging is not included; manufacturing is estimated from energy consumption (approximate, communicated by the supplier, or from the local/national energy mix); logistics considers road transport inbound and ocean and/or road transport outbound. Tolerance

The 2023 reports say to consider a 15% deviation of the final value (in most cases stated as already included in the totals); reports from 2024 onwards state that the final total includes a 10% tolerance. ACBC describes the tolerance as a margin to cover data gaps and make sure the offset fully covers the emissions. All reports describe themselves as preliminary assessments or as based on literature data and proxy estimates.

Estimate, reduction and offset

The PCF is an estimate of the product's footprint: it is not a climate-neutrality certification of the product and does not attest to reductions or offsets.

The site page Carbon neutral states that the Piquadro Group measures its impact, acts to reduce it and offsets it by supporting certified emission removal projects (the CIKEL and FLORESTA VERDE REDD+ deforestation-prevention initiatives in the Brazilian Amazon), and that in this way it achieved carbon neutrality in the Group's activities (Scope 1 and 2) for fiscal year 24/25. The same page states that the CO2 emissions generated by the green product lines were calculated according to the GHG protocol and offset on the basis of production, with an extra 15% to cover possible calculation errors, through Verra VCS-certified carbon credits supporting the Floresta Verde project, and that the operation is repeated every year; it lists the "Compensated products" and publishes the Verra certificates (Business Activity Offset 24/25; Product Offset to 31/03/25 and to 31/03/24).

Results by model

Total per unit including tolerance; breakdown by phase as a percentage of the sum of phases (n/a = the report shows it only as a chart). Codes without a link: product not currently on sale on the site.
